Travel week: Amsterdam

We left Brussels at noon on a Euroline bus. Luckily, I slept for about 3 of the 3 and a half hour bus ride. Then we were finally in Amsterdam. We checked into our hostel, showered and headed out to explore. We found a mexican restaurant for dinner that was delicious. I can't believe I spent 15 euros on dinner, and that was with getting the cheapest thing on the menu, quesadilla with jalapenos and the waitress brought me extra jalapenos!!!

As we were finishing up dinner, we noticed some Cimba's walking down the street. We tried getting there attention, but they had been thoroughly soaking up the legality of Amsterdam and weren't nearly as excited to see us.

After dinner we visited our first coffee shop and hung out with some of the Cimba guys. The quote of the night/trip came from Paige who said, "Alright. Give me all the sugar on the table."

Day 2: We visited the Heineken Museum, we got 2 free beers but wasn't my favorite part of the trip. We went to this famous pancake place for lunch and I, of course, did not get pancakes but had delicious french onion soup and a greek salad: 2 of my favorites! Then we went to the Anne Frank museum! It was amazing to see the space that 8 people were living in during WWII. Quotes from Anne's book were on the walls and pictures of the spaces with furniture were in each room. As depressing as the sight was it was a great reminder of the persecution the Jews had faced.

Shortly after the museum, it donned on the girls that it was going to take us 2 hours to get to the airport for out flight to Berlin (I had brought up this point, but with 6 girls everyone thinks they know better, it added a great story to the trip tho). So our best bet was getting on a train to some random town, then taking a taxi to Dusseldorf airport for our 6:30 am flight.

We went to the Red Light district, because we decided we had to see what it was all about. And needless to say it was INTERESTING! Hookers had there own windows and you could see the room: the bed, and other decor. If a curtain was drawn over the windows the girl was currently occupied. Walking down the streets, we saw a number of men just walking through the door belonging to their girl for the night. Thats just something you do NOT see at home, guys of course pay for sex but they are a little more discrete. Also, I learned that if a girl had a blue light in addition to her red light, then she is a tranny.

After the red light district, we hurried back to the hostel, and rushed to the train station. We arrived at the sketchy train station in a town I don't even remember of, the only thing outside were 2 taxis. The drivers completely ripped us off, charging 25 euro a person, but it was the ONLY option at 1:30 am to get to Dusseldorf. We found a spot on the floor of the airport and slept until we could go through security.
