Travel week: Prague

So I've been slacking on my posting and still haven't told you about Prague! Prague was a six hour train ride from Berlin. When we finally got there we set off to find our hostel! After several turns and stopping numerous times to check the map, we found our hostel and found out that they were having problems and had to put us some where else. We back tracked and the new pension was very nice and had a great location in Prague 1. After settling in, we headed to H&M which I'm pretty sure we visited in EVERY city. Then we got cuban food for dinner that night. After dinner Jamie and I were really tired so we headed back to our pension and the rest of the girls headed out.

The next morning, Jamie and I got up early went to get coffee and we had found a free tour through our hostel so we decided it would be a great way to see Prague. We met the tour guide and 3 other people at the horse which is a famous symbol in Prague and if you say, "meet you at the horse" everyone knows what you mean. Here are some pictures from our tour:

This is the horse with one of the museums in the background. The museum was the last thing that we went to that day! It had a planet earth exhibit with almost no English, making it difficult to understand.



The tour guide pointed out these famous hotels, which used to be the nicest hotels in Prague.

We then went to this church called Our Lady of the Snow. It was the plainest church on the outside but the interior was GORGEOUS. Unfortunately we were unable to take pictures. The tour ended in the old town square. We saw the famous clock chime on the hour, which was definitely anti-climatic! The tour guide told us about a non-tourist route to the Charles bridge, so Jamie and I set off that way after the tour commenced.



The Charles Bridge was so pretty even though it was currently being worked on. After crossing the bridge, we set off to find the metro so we could take it to the Prague castle. We definitely detoured but ended up finding an English bookstore, and another statue by David Cerny that our tour guide had told us about. It is a fountain of two men peeing in a basin the shape of the Czech Republic. The symbolism is the men peeing on the Czech government.

The Prague castle was more modern than I was expecting, the basilica was the only thing that looked ancient.



All in all Prague was probably my favorite place. The only thing that would have made it better was if it had been warm. We made it back to PdG with no troubles and had all day Sunday to sleep which was definitely needed! 4 countries in about 8 days was a little excessive but definitely an amazing experience!
